"Colin and Nathan On the Ice"

It hurts to know that Kevin won't ever get the chance to show Colin and Nathan his passion for ice hockey.  I knew he was looking forward to teaching them how to skate one day and cheer them on if they decided that they wanted to play hockey like their dad.  But a local hockey team made that dream for Kevin come to life, but in a different way.

Kevin had been volunteering his time to the Hilliard Hockey Teams.  Being a Physical Therapist, he would go to practices and attend to a kid if they were to get hurt on the ice.  The team and the coaches respected Kevin, not only as a Physical Therapist, but as a hockey player as well.

After hearing about our situation, the President of the Hockey Association, took it upon himself to get stickers made with a C+N on them.  These stickers would be worn by all the hockey players on the back of their helmets.

One night, Kevin and I went to a Hilliard Hockey game to see these stickers in real life.  It was extremely touching to know that we had the entire Hilliard Hockey community supporting us.
The Helmet in action

We were talking with Jason, who got the stickers made, along with his wife, Michelle, and some other hockey moms.  They were telling us that the kids were so excited when the stickers came in.  I think one mom said that her son came home from school one day all excited and the first thing he told her was that their C+N stickers came in and they got to put them on their helmets.  For a high schooler to have so much excitement over a sticker that has the initials of 2 little babies that they never met on it, well lets just say it was a pretty awesome feeling.

So in a way, Colin and Nathan were out there on the ice and got to play the sport that Kevin thinks is the best sport in the world.
