"Baby Kane is a......?" (19 weeks)

I am halfway there.  People always say that they can’t wait to meet their child…well, I can wait.  I want to wait!  I don’t want this child to come any sooner than January.  But it is the 19th week and I have to say that I am feeling amazing.  I have had some appointments since we returned from vacation.  On Wed Aug  6th, I had a cervical length done at my MFM doctors.  My cervix looks amazing.  I was going to tell them to check the heartbeat but they did it anyway before I could even ask.  I wasn’t expecting an ultra sound but I got one that day.  Kevin wasn’t there for this one since it was supposed to just be a cervical length.  So I told the sonographer that if she could see the sex, don’t tell me.  I didn’t want to know unless Kevin was there.  Baby was head down and his/her legs were up above him/her.  It didn’t look very comfortable but I guess that is fine for them at that stage.  I got a few more pictures of baby and went on my way.

The next day I had a follow up with my OB.  They just checked the heartbeat and I met with a Doctor.  No real news to report on that one.  The most important ultra sound was the one we had done this past Wednesday (Aug 20th).  It was our anatomy scan for baby.  We got to check all the things I wanted to check; heart, kidneys, fluid, blood flow, and size.

When we got into the room, we did a cervical length check again and it was still looking very good.  Then we got to the scan.  Baby was moving and grooving and in probably one of the worst positions a baby could be in to get an ultra sound done.  Baby was breech with it’s back towards my front.  Our sonographer that day said that she likes to tell us the sex at the end of the scan.  It didn’t matter to me when we found out so I was fine with that.

19 Weeks Along
As she was doing the scan, every thing looked great with baby. She took all her measurements that she needed.  Now at the beginning of the scan, I thought I may have seen the sex of our baby but I didn’t say anything because although I thought I got pretty good reading Ultrasounds with the boys, I still was no expert.  It was the end of the scan and she asks if we are ready to find out the sex. “YES!” we say.  And she moves downs below and she said, “Get your hands out from down there!” And I say, “IT’S A BOY!!” haha.  She said I was right.  Even though she couldn’t get a good shot at that moment, she had seen it at the beginning of the US and it was a boy.  We were having ANOTHER boy!  We couldn’t be more excited!  Kevin and I make beautiful boys together.  She continued to try and get a good shot but it wasn’t perfect.  But it was a boy and it was healthy so that is all that matters.  Baby Boy Kane weighed 9 oz and was measuring at 19 weeks, so 3 days ahead of schedule.  Such great news that I never get tired of hearing.

The sonographer went to go grab the Doctor to just go over her pictures and findings.  Dr. Retzke came in after a while and said that everything looked great and there was no reason that we needed to come back.  Baby boy was perfect and everything was going great.

Another step closer to getting to know our sweet son.  Now all we need to do is come up with a name.
